How to Best Use the Hoover Steam Vac Deluxe
- 1). Vacuum the carpet to be steam cleaned first to remove loose dirt and debris. Remove as much furniture from the room as you can. Wrap the feet of the remaining furniture with tin foil.
- 2). Make sure the Hoover SteamVac Deluxe is unplugged. Remove the clean solution tank by pressing down on its handle and pulling it forward. Unscrew the cap to use it as a measuring cup. Fill the cap to the upper line with Hoover carpet cleaning solution or with Hoover floor cleaning solution. Use Hoover cleaning solutions for the best result and do not use the carpet cleaning solution on floors.
- 3). Pour the cleaner into the clean solution tank and add 1 gallon of hot water. Replace the cap and twist it clockwise until it locks into place to prevent leaking. Plug in the steam cleaner, set it to "HI" for best cleaning and turn it on. Run the machine over the carpet until the recovery tank fills and the machine automatically turns off.
- 4). Remove the clean solution tank by pressing down on the handle and pulling it forward. Set the tank aside. Step on the handle release pedal and lay the machine on the floor. Release the two recovery tank latches and lift up to pull the tank out. Pull up on the back of the lid and empty the recovery tank into a sink. Replace the lid and put both tanks back into the machine.
- 5). Allow the carpet to dry completely. Fill the clean solution tank with 1 gallon of hot water only. Replace the tank into the steam cleaner. Plug in the machine and turn it on. Go over the rug to rinse it with pure steam. Empty the recovery tank as needed. Let the carpet dry again completely before you walk on it.
