Verona, the Most Romantic Destination in the World: Accommodation, Tours and Tips

Verona is famous thanks to Shakespeare, but it is also a fantastic destination in northern Italy.
From Verona you can travel to many cities in one hour (Venice, Milan, Bologna, Padua, Mantua Treviso and more) and visit all the area of Lake Garda and Valpolicella, where nature is so beautiful.
My tips will be focused on what you can do in Verona.
1) First of all, to discover Verona you need to get info from a local point of view, a source where you can read about monuments, historical sights, traditions, culture, food and wine.
When you visit Italy you always need to know about history and Verona is full of it (it is considered the 4th italian city as historical relevance).
I suggest you to read a tourist guide before leaving your country (many people use to read it only after, but if you do this before you will find yourself at home later).
Another good tip is having a look to news and events specially during periods like Christmas or Valentine's day or during the famous Opera Season, one of the most famous in the world that every year take place from June to September in the roman amphitheater called Arena, aged more than 2000 years old.
Don't forget to look if there are special events to avoid the high prices of accommodation or maybe look at them if you want to take part of them.
2) When you have an idea of what you like to see during your stay it will be time to choose your accommodation.
Do you like hotels? This is not your case because we don't.
We prefer to stay like a local in unusual places, so an apartment or a b&b is what we suggest to choose, for this there is a variety of local websites with a great selection of properties like b&b (bed and breakfasts), holiday rentals, holiday apartments, villas, relais and historical charming and romantic accommodations in Verona, Lake Garda, Valpolicella and interesting areas of the province (from the city center to the countryside).
3) As we said, from Verona you can visit many other italian cities so we suggest a long stay of at least a week.
During this time plan your trip in advance and try to create yourself a customized tour of Verona planning a real travel experience.
A good idea could be to make a wine tour or if you stay in an apartment you could ask for a private chef for a typical dinner.
