Automobile Technology : Waiting For The Future To Arrive
For a long time, the sole purpose of a car was to take us from point A to point B as fast as traffic conditions would allow us to. However, the recent advancements in technology have led to a flow in demand from many of us; we want to have more comfort, entertainment and functions. In the current scenario, the demand for new car models is higher than ever before. In this vein, we have come up with awish list of the things we would like to see in cars of the future:
1. Augmented reality head-up display: Having an augmented reality display on a car windscreen would add a lot of functionality to the car. We would be able to see information like - speed, navigation details and even the name of an incoming calleron our windscreens. Though it looks cool, but it will not work when the surrounding is too bright for the information to be clearly visible on your windscreen.
2. Sheen thin batteries: As batteries used in existing cars are bulky and heavy, manufacturers have to find a suitable place to put the large batteries, and at the same time, they also have to ensure that the car is well balanced throughout. What will be really cool is to havebatteries hidden in plain sight by replacing the cosmetic parts of a car.
3. Communication between vehicles: Communication between vehicles doesnt mean that you can directly make a call to the car in front of you and ask it to slow down or move out of your way. Thats obviously not going to happen. Its more likemachines communicating with each otherso that traffic will remain smooth and roads will be less congested. This technology will also ensure road safety by reducing collisions between cars. For example, your car can warn you about a possible collision from the other vehicle thats coming from your blind spot. If implemented correctly, this technology will significantly increase road safety, efficiency, and driving experience.
4. Driver override system: This relates to the autonomous technology, but it is different, because in this technology the car is actively disregarding your commands and making its own decisions. We already have cars that will automatically stop if you fail to apply the brakes. But by 2020, cars will apply the breaks even if the driver has the gas pedal floored. The rapid increase in the sensor technology will force a shift in priority, giving cars the final say, and not you.
Few of the above expected features look unattainable. But, with the new arrival of the cars nowadays, you never know whats going to happen in the future. Technological advancements have certainly exceeded our expectations of what more can be integrated into new cars. Some of these advanced features we have looked at may come with hefty price tags.
Nonetheless, we can still hope for a time where technology becomes more efficient, inclusive and cheaper, allowing us to have these features included in our cars as well.
