How Can I Register My Dog As a Pure Breed?
- 1). Secure proof that your dog or puppy is purebred. If you purchased a puppy from a breeder, they should provide you with the necessary paperwork for registration. For the AKC, you will need proof that both parent dogs were AKC registered. For the CKC, you will need proof that both parent dogs were registered with a certified kennel club.
- 2). Acquire registration papers. These are papers that are already partially filled out for a puppy that has the option of being registered. Again, these should be provided by any breeder, but are also available through the CKC and AKC sites.
- 3). Fill the forms out with the information on your dog and its parents. These registrations can be done through the mail or on line.
