Tips on taking care of your motorcycles
I've had 4 motorcycles in my life, I still remember my first scooter and how it gives me headaches, since it breaks down every other day. Even though I regret getting that Yamaha LB50, It gave experience that would never be replaced, specifically to motorcycles. Now in taking care of our motorcycles here are my advise.
First is the constant change oil. Make sure you are changing oil after 1,000Km on your odometer reading. If it's your first change oil, make sure you make it on the first 500KM. The reason for this is that since the engine is new, it would generate a lot of small particles coming from the parts (piston, rings, etc) from rubbing from each other.Anyway, again change oil is the most important thing on your engine.
Clean your ride. This is not a tip. This should come natural to you. the fact that your reading this means that you love your "horse" and wants to make sure it lasts same as your lifetime. Cleaning it yourself is the best advise, since you will get to know every spec and details of your motorcycle. It's hitting three birds with one stone, you get to clean your motorcycle, you get familiarized to it and you get your excercise as well.
If in some case that you have not used the motorcycle for a while, make sure you warm your engine for like 2 to 5 mins before you use it, also to crank the kickstart while the switch is off. The reason is to make sure there is lubrication to the piston before it starts.
Make sure to fix small problems as soon as you noticed it. Remember that small imperfections, damage or cracks could cause big problems in the long run. A good example is a fairing crack. Once you ignore it, that would cause irrepairable damage that may cost you to replace it. If you noticed a crack, make sure to repair it ASAP.
Last thing that I can say is to drive safe. Two wheeled vehicles are more susceptible to accidents. Driving safely keeps your motorcycle's last longer and also your life.
