As a person who has applied for a credit card, loan, or mortgage before, you know for a fact that the credit report and the credit score plays a very important role.
With a low credit score, or a credit score below 620, you will have to pay higher rates as well as fees in order to obtain a loan.
Besides, with a low credit score, you are viewed as a high risk borrower who doesn't pay off their bills or their loans on time.
You need to remember that creditors or lenders are also doing this to earn money.
And, they invest money for you to borrow.
They need to make sure that their investment will return with interest.
If you are a good payer, then they will be sure that you will be able to do so.
Basically, there are three credit reporting agencies that they request your credit from.
One of these agencies or companies is Equifax.
This particular credit reporting company is one of the most trusted in the nation and it is also one of the most used credit reporting companies by lenders or creditors.
If you want to obtain a copy of your credit score, then you will be glad to know that Equifax will be able to provide it for you.
However, you might want to know that obtaining a credit report from Equifax is not entirely free.
You will need to pay a small fee in order for you to get a copy of the report.
But, you should also know that consumers, such as yourself, will be able to get a report from Equifax for free.
Basically, people are entitled to one free credit report annually or in a 12 month period.
After obtaining your credit report and you want to obtain another one, you can wait for another 12 months, or you can obtain it for a small amount of fee.
You have to remember that obtaining a credit report is your right and it will in no way affect your credit score.
CRA's such as Equifax can even use an estimated score in order to provide you with your general level of risk when it comes to borrowing money.
So, it is very important that you should pay your bills on time and all the time.
By doing so, you can be sure that you will be able to have a good credit report as well as a good credit score.
So, why should you bother taking a look at your credit score if you are so sure that you have a good credit score? You have to consider the fact that there may be some errors in your credit report, which can hinder the increase of your credit score.
By obtaining your credit report, you will be able to know whether there are any inaccurate data in your report.
If you do find anything that is inaccurate or erroneous in your credit report, then you will be able to challenge it or dispute it.
All you need to do is write a letter about the inaccuracy in the data and send it to Equifax.
You also need to include a document proving that the data is incorrect.
By doing this, you will be able to improve your credit report as well as increase your score.
