Matthew Tucker waived by Eagles
Matthew Tucker appeared in two games with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013 and later ripped off 125 yards on 24 carries with four touchdowns in last year's preseason.
That isn't enough, though, to warrant the Eagles looking over the running back any further as the team waived the TCU product with a non-football injury on Monday afternoon, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.
* UPDATE:Tim McManus of PhillyMag reports Tucker had surgery on his torn quad with an 8-9 month recovery.
The move comes six days before training camp kicks off. It also leaves the Eagles one player shy of the 90-man roster for camp. That spot is expected to be filled by Villanova halfback, Kevin Monangai, after he shared the news on his Instagram.
With that not being official yet, the Eagles will go into camp with five running backs: DeMarco Murray, Darren Sproles, Ryan Matthews, Raheem Mostert and Kenjon Barner.
A few weeks ago, About.com took a look at Tucker's odds of making the final 53-man roster. I guess that will go to good use for another team now.
