What Are the Duties of an Elders Quorum President?

All members of the elders quorum are also members of an LDS fraternity called the Melchizedek Priesthood. The elders quorum president offers guidance concerning gospel and responsibilities of being husbands and fathers. The president teaches members how to carry out their priesthood ordinances.
- The elders quorum president acts as a "go between" for the branch president and the church. He serves with and under the direction of the branch president to carry out the works of the church through the elders quorum. The branch president sits on the branch priesthood executive committee and along with the elders quorum president acts as a voice for the individual church amidst the larger entity.
- It is up to the elders quorum president to serve as an example and encourage brotherhood among the members of the elders quorum. He will organize activities and projects that promote community and strengthen the brotherhood of the quorum. The president encourages quorum members to participate in church functions and become more active in the church. He helps young and un-ordained men to become part of the priesthood.
- The elders quorum president assigns pairs of members of the elders quorum and members of the Melchizedek Priesthood home teaching projects. Patrons of the church who are in need of home teaching receive it through the elders quorum. Home teachers visit members regularly and offer advice and guidance.
