    • 1). Turn the phone completely off and put it in a warm, dry place or in a bag of absorbent material, such as uncooked rice. Leave it in this spot for 24 hours. This will ensure all the water has completely evaporated and prevent further damage.

    • 2). Open iTunes on your computer. Click "File" and select "Check for Updates." If updates are available, download and install them.

    • 3). Turn on the iPhone and plug it into the computer. Click its name in the left column of iTunes, then click "Check for Updates" in the center of the screen. Download and install any available updates.

    • 4). Click "Apps" in the left column of iTunes. Click "Update All" in the lower right corner. Choose to update all the apps.

    • 5). Unplug the iPhone from the computer and reset it by pressing the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously until the Apple icon appears.

    • 6). Plug the iPhone back into the computer and open iTunes if you continue to experience the problem. Click its name in the left column of iTunes, then click "Restore" in the center of the screen. Follow the prompts to complete the restore. This returns the iPhone to its factory settings.

    • 7). Purchase and install a new battery for the iPhone if you continue to experience the problem. If this does not fix the problem, have an Apple specialist examine it to find the specific cause.
