Single origin tea, also referred to as single region tea, is tea that is produced from a single geographic region. It is the opposite of blended_tea - where tea from two or more different geographical areas is combined together.

Tea from various parts of the world has different flavours, aromas and textures depending on where it is grown. Geographical factors such as climate and soil texture affect how tea_tastes. Single origin_tea is produced from leaves from a particular region, ensuring a distinct, powerful and unique taste. With this type of tea, it is easy to identify where it is produced, and how
the_tea is made. The characteristics of single origin_tea can fluctuate annually depending on changing conditions where they are grown, whereas blended_tea from various locations can be adjusted to maintain a consistent flavour, aroma and texture profile year after year.

There is a common belief that single origin_tea is superior to blended_teas. In certain circles, single origin_tea is known to be €premium_tea' - that is of a higher quality than many mainstream blends. Thus it is associated with being more expensive. However, single origin tea can sometimes be cheaper than blended_tea. There is nothing inherently costly about single origin tea. In fact, the process of blending tea requires more resources and money compared to preparing single origin tea. Therefore, even though premium grade_tea is used in single origin tea, this does not mean that it is more expensive than blended tea.

Single origin_teas are narrowed down to the greatest level possible such as the province, district or country. Single estate tea is a type of single origin tea, and is used to describe tea that has been produced in a specific tea estate. These_teas are usually labeled with the name of their estate in the tea_name. It is possible to identify the kind of flavour, aroma and colour to be expected from estates and regions.
