How to Replace the Wire in a Weed Trimmer
- 1). Disconnect the weed trimmer from the power source to avoid injury. If it is a gas trimmer, remove the spark plug to eliminate the possibility of the trimmer accidentally engaging. If it is electric, unplug it to avoid an electric shock.
- 2). Remove the spool containing the trimmer line. Push the spool head and twist it off. Some models may contain a spring beneath the spool, so be careful not to lose it.
- 3). Remove the old line from the spool head if replacing the wire only. If replacing the entire spool, discard the old spool and skip to Step 5.
- 4). Insert the new trimmer line into the feed hole, and wind the wire in the direction indicated by the arrow on the body of the spool.
- 5). Install the new spool or newly-wound spool by pushing it on the trimmer head and twisting.
