    • 1). Open an image-editing program such as CorelDRAW, Photoshop or GIMP.

    • 2). Press the keys "Ctrl" and "N" to create a new file.

    • 3). Click on the "Image" menu and scroll to "Image Size." Enter the desired size, in pixels, in the "Height" and "Width" boxes. Press the "OK" button.

    • 4). Navigate to the "Layers" window and press the "New Layer" button. Highlight the new layer.

    • 5). Draw the background, if desired. Click on the "Brush" tool and select an appropriate color from the "Color Wheel." Draw a shape, using the mouse as a pen. If you wish to draw a perfect circle or square, use the "Circle" or "Square" button. Fill the shape, if desired. Click on the "Bucket" tool and click inside the shape. Continue drawing and painting as desired. Press the "New Layer" button.

    • 6). Fill an object with a gradient, if desired. A gradient consists of a gradual blend between two colors. Click on the "Gradient" tool and select two colors. Click inside the shape you wish to fill.

    • 7). Import an image into the graphic, if desired. Click on the "Image" menu and click on "Import." Locate the image you wish to import, highlight it and press the "OK" button. Adjust the size of the image, using the "Resize" tool. Move the image, using the "Arrow" tool. Press the "New Layer" button.

    • 8). Draw the foreground of the graphic, using the "Brush," "Bucket" and "Pen" tools.

    • 9). Add a new layer. Continue adding detail to each layer until you complete the graphic.

      Shift the color of the image, if desired. Click on the "Image" menu and click on "Brightness/Contrast." Adjust the "Brightness" slider to make the image lighter or darker. Adjust the "Contrast" slider to create or remove contrast. Use the "Hue" window, located under the "Image" menu, to adjust the color balance of the graphic.

      Add filters, if desired. Click on the "Filters" menu and scroll to the name of a filter. Adjust the settings in the "Filter" pop-up window. Click on the "Preview" button to view the results of the filter. Click on the "OK" button to apply the filter.

      Save your image in the "JPEG" format.
