Many of us spend a lot of time worrying about our children. A large part of our concerns are often about our role as parents. Are we providing a good example to them and helping to make sure that they have all of the opportunities that are necessary to have a successful life?

We all try to do the very best that we can but things can sometimes be difficult. There are occasions when we have trouble identifying what is for the best. This is perfectly understandable when there is so much confusing evidence about the rights and wrongs of various courses of action.

In this article we take a closer look at one area of life - that of exercise. Exercise is a particularly important subject when we're talking about the loves of our children.

A number of recent studies have pointed to the fact that many kids are simply not getting enough exercise. That's really bad news. It's leading to a number of problems, with the most obvious being rising numbers of obese children, teenagers and young adults.

The reality is that a child who does not get enough exercise and who has weight problems is likely to suffer serious health problems in the future. This is a bleak statement and it makes us all think about the exercise levels of our children.

Are our kids getting enough exercise? If not, how can we go about increasing their activity levels?

If you'd like to help your children to have more exercise then one way of doing it is to show them various types of active play. The garden can be the perfect location to do this, since many different forms of outdoor games are likely to involve a higher level of activity.

It's important that you make any games fun - you don't want to put your children off the thought of exercise by introducing them to toys and games that they see as boring. You should be aiming to prove that playing games in the garden can be even more fun than many of the indoor games that they are used to.

If you can show them how much fun can be found outdoors then you can help them to enjoy themselves and to have a healthier life.
