    • 1). Grab the outside edge of the Honeywell round thermostat faceplate and pull it straight off the mounting plate. Locate the fan operation toggle switch above the thermostat wires. The switch has an "E" and "F" stamp on the side. Position the toggle switch to "E" if your heating system is electric or a heat pump. Move the toggle switch to "F" if your system is a gas or oil heating system.

    • 2). Locate the cycle rate switches toward the upper left of the thermostat mounting plate. There is a small sticker under the cycle rate switches that will indicate the proper setting of the switch for your type of heating system. Position the switches according to the heating system you have.

    • 3). Position the faceplate back over the mounting plate and press it in until it snaps into position. Adjust the control settings with the small plastic lever on the upper left hand side of the thermostat. Move the lever to "cool," "off" or "heat" as necessary. The lever will move with your fingertip.

    • 4). Adjust the fan setting on the upper right hand side of the thermostat. Position the small lever to "fan on" or "auto" depending upon your preferences.

    • 5). Rotate the temperature dial to the temperature you desire by turning the dial with your fingertips. You will hear a click each 2 degrees that you move the temperature dial.

    • 1). Turn the outer dial one click to display the current temperature setting. Look for the triangular indicator on the lower right of the display. To set the thermostat temperature, the indicator must be beside "set."

    • 2). Raise the temperature by turning the dial clockwise. Lower the temperature by turning the dial counter-clockwise. When you have the temperature set, leave the dial alone. The thermostat will automatically exit programming mode.

    • 3). Adjust the cycle settings with the small lever on the upper left of the thermostat body. The lever will move with your fingertip to the "heat," "off" or "cool" mode. The lever on the upper right adjusts in the same manner for "fan on" or "auto" for your fan setting.
