Maryland camps for kids focus on social and learning activities, and most of these camps operate during the summer. Camps are hosted by both private organizations and religious groups. Activities include games, sports, arts and crafts, leadership skills and survival skills. Camps can range in length from a single day to eight weeks. The age range for most camps is between 4 and 17. - The Wabanna Camp and Conference Center is open from mid-June through mid-August, and it hosts one-week camps for eight weeks during the summer. This Christian camp improves children's social skills through team-building activities. Activities include rock wall climbing, boating, sailing, canoeing, tubing and kayaking. Bible study sessions are conducted throughout the camp.
The camps are broken down by age groups. The Residential Camp is open to children ages 7 to 15. The Day Camp is open to children ages 4 to 13, and parents must pick up their children at the end of each day. Leaders in Training is a weeklong program for children ages 15 to 17.
