You Can Go Home Again - OLTL Recap for Thursday, July 9, 2009
Greg tells Nora, Bo and Matt that, after looking at Matt’s test results, surgery is an option that could allow Matt to walk again. Matt is excited to hear the news, however Bo and Nora want more information so they can make a decision. Greg explains that there are risks, as with any surgery, and complications. When Greg says that one of the complications could cause death, Nora immediately dismisses surgery as an option.
Greg leaves so they can talk. Matt desperately wants the surgery, but Bo and Nora are against is for fear that Matt could die during the procedure. Matt explains that he’d rather be dead than live in a wheelchair the rest of his life.
Gigi desperately wants to be a family again, but Rex explains that he’s changed so much since they’ve been apart. Rex says that he tried to, even wanted to, stop loving Gigi but he couldn’t. Both Rex and Gigi know that things can’t immediately go back to the way they were, but both are willing to give it a shot. Gigi leads Rex upstairs where they make love. Shaun watches as Rachel and Schuyler sit at a table, Destiny wants Shaun to make a move – to more or less mark his territory. Destiny chooses to do it for Shaun when she invites Rachel and Schuyler to their table to join them for lunch. Destiny concocts a plan to get Rachel and Shaun alone – which involves spilling her drink on Schuyler.
When Destiny and Schuyler are gone, Shaun apologizes to Rachel and is insanely embarrassed. Rachel is all smiles when Shaun explains that he’s beginning to like her.
Rachel then tells Shaun about her past – as an addict, which is why she became a counselor. Shaun understands that Rachel has to take things slow and is willing to wait as long as she wants him to. Shaun is perturbed when Greg shows up, Greg approaches Rachel and nonchalantly explains Matt’s situation. Rachel gives Greg’s smugness a quick check when she tells him to watch his attitude and not be so interested in boosting his own ego by using her brother’s misfortune as a way to gain fame and glory. Shaun escorts Rachel out while Destiny walks with Greg. Greg asks if Shaun and Rachel are an item, which Destiny hopes they are. Schuyler makes a phone call to Rex, asking when he’ll tell Gigi that he and Stacy slept together.
Cole is surprised when Starr explains that she can’t marry him – today. Starr explains that all of their recent decisions were based on something else (i.e. they made love because they thought they’d never see each other again). Cole is beginning to understand, but wonders if Starr accepted his proposal just to placate him. Starr explains that she wanted something for him to hold on to while in jail, Cole understands Starr’s position and agrees to wait until the time is right.
Meanwhile, all are waiting inside to see whether the wedding takes place. Tea tells Todd that she owes John a bit of thanks after stopping the wedding in the nick of time. Todd feels that he owes John absolutely nothing. Marty inquires to John about how he got the judge to change his mind about Cole. John starts to explain but is interrupted by Blair, who wants to talk about their annulment. Langston is worried that Dorian isn’t telling her the truth about the upcoming dinner party. Dorian tells Langston they she needn’t worry about anything. Cole and Starr explain to everyone that the wedding is cancelled. Todd gives a sigh of relief, Starr explains that they will be getting married when the time is right. The wedding party disburses, Dorian prepares her house for the dinner party. Shaun makes sure Tea gets home okay. Langston expresses concern over whether or not people will show up – thinking this is their one shot to impress Markko’s parents. Dorian tells Langston not to worry about anything. Langston freaks out when Markko arrives with his parents and none of the other guests have arrived yet. John takes Marty and Cole to the station wherein Cole inquires about his community service. John explains that Cole will be working undercover to help apprehend the people who are distributing drugs to Llanview High School. . .
