How to Put Sandpaper on an Orbital Sander
- 1). Turn the orbital sander on its side. Lay it down on a flat surface so the bottom can easily be reached. Locate the sandpaper on the bottom. Unplug the power cord to the sander.
- 2). Grasp the sandpaper by any corner and pull it off of the orbital sander. Peel the old sandpaper back and completely remove it from the sander. Inspect the area where the sandpaper was located. Remove any excess debris and dirt.
- 3). Hold the new sandpaper above the orbital sander pad, lining it up and making sure it is the proper size. Peel off the paper covering and press the sandpaper into place on the sander with the sticky side down and the sandpaper side facing out.
- 4). Push down firmly on the sandpaper. Run your fingers over the entire area so it can adhere to the pad. Turn the sander over so it is standing upright. Plug it back in and turn it on. Test it out on a wood surface for a few minutes.
- 5). Turn off the orbital sander and flip it over. Inspect the sandpaper and check that it is staying in place on the pad.
