    • 1). Turn off power to the existing ceiling light at the house circuit box.

    • 2). Take down the light fixture by removing the screws holding it to the ceiling and then disconnecting the wires from behind it. You will be left with an exposed electrical box and a white wire, a black wire and a bare copper wire.

    • 3). Hold the mounting bracket from the fan kit up to the electrical box. Align the screw holes. Attach the bracket with the screws that came with it.

    • 4). Hook the copper ground wire from the electrical box to the green ground screw on the bracket. Tighten the screw.

    • 5). Put the fan together on the floor, attaching the light unit to the motor unit as instructed. Don't attach the fan blades. Carry the motor and light unit up the ladder.

    • 6). Hold the white wires from the fan unit and the electrical box alongside each other, and twist a wire cap over them to twist them together.

    • 7). Hold the black wire form the box next to the black wire from the fan and the blue wire from the fan (which controls the light). Twist a wire cap around all three of the wire ends at once.

    • 8). Lift the fan unit to the bracket, pushing the wires into the box as you do. Mount the unit to the bracket with the provided screws.

    • 9). Turn on the power. Test the fan motor and the light, using the wall switch. If both work, attach the fan blades as instructed.
