How Blogs Can Make You Smarter
I did a search in Google for "blogs".
Any guesses out there? Well if you guess 600 million, you would be about eighteen million short.
That's right: 618,000,000.
Of course, that is a lot to read and includes items or articles on how to make a blog or applications to create a blog such as WordPress or Blogger.
Blogs can make you smarter by learning from the "masters" of the subject at hand.
Of course, there are plenty of poor examples, but there are many great ones as well.
Another way to help you be smarter is to learn how others approach a particular topic and share knowledge on that topic.
We should always be willing to learn, but blogs offer a great way to listen to people without going to a conference or attending a workshop of some type.
I thought I would share some blogs that I have found useful and give you some information about them.
One of the blogs that I check often is Microsoft At Home.
The first thing is that this isn't technically a blog, but it "feels" like one to me.
It offers great tips such as what the F1 key will do for you and how to turn your PC into a radio.
It is another site that offers help with computer issues and of course, a download for the latest version of Internet Explorer.
There is a tab for students and parents that I really like.
In this area I found the "Top 9 Web sites for students".
I was planning to see Facebook and Napster, but what what I found was real, research based websites.
For example, Refdesk which stands for reference desk serves as a collection of sites for the web's most popular dictionaries, encyclopedias and more.
There is a great homework helper section as well.
Another blog that really is worth the read is the Google Docs Blog.
This blog is updated consistently with information on how to use Google Docs and at the time of this article posting, the blog has an article asking for comments on how to improve Google's Forms application.
