    Horseshoe Blanket

    • 1). Cut a horseshoe shape out of Styrofoam insulation to fit around the doorway that serves as the entryway to the party.

    • 2). Attach sphagnum moss to the foam with U-shaped pins.

    • 3). Cover the Styrofoam with red silk roses by poking the short stems in the Styrofoam and reinforcing with a bit of white glue.

    Rose Topiary

    • 1). Fill the bottom of the pots of the topiary forms with sphagnum moss.

    • 2). Cut the stems of red silk roses to 1 inch.

    • 3). Dab some white glue on the end of each stem and poke them in the ball of the topiary. Use the topiaries to decorate the buffet table, drinks and entryway.

    Mint and Roses

    • 1). Cover 4-inch pots of mint with silver foil.

    • 2). Place the pots of mint around a bouquet of red roses arranged in a silver vase.

    • 3). Give a single red rose to give each lady as she leaves in the tradition of E. Barry Wall.

    Fire, Ice and Roses

    • 1). Fill half-gallon juice cardboard cartons one-third full with distilled water. Freeze. Cut the stems off fresh roses as close to the flower as you can. Place three red roses on top of the frozen water, facing outward. Add an inch of water. Freeze. When the water is frozen solid, fill the container two-thirds full of water. Freeze.

    • 2). Add three more roses and an inch of water. When that layer of water is frozen, add enough water to reach within 2 inches of the top. Right before the party, remove from the freezer and let sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.

    • 3). Place a glass the size of a pillar candle on top of the ice. Fill with hot water. Let the ice melt enough to form a depression for the pillar candle. Put the ice and candle in a bowl. Surround the bowl with more red roses.

    Silver

    • 1). Search the house for as many silver items as possible. Display them on the tables and around the party.

    • 2). Group the silver on the fireplace mantel and coffee tables.

    • 3). Spray-paint wine glasses from a discount or charity store with silver paint if you don't have enough silver.
