Everybody knows all of the classics that came out for the Nintendo Entertainment system.
It's obvious that most people can just go on and on about Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, etc..
..
But there were plenty of video games of that era never got that iconic following that it deserved.
Here is a short list: Golgo 13 - Before little kids were able to enjoy the adult storyline and tone of Metal Gear Solid, there was Golgo 13.
The video game was incredibly adult for 1988.
While it may have been hard for a youngster to follow, in retrospect it was completely ahead of its time.
It involved sexual themes, espionage, and politics.
While the end result might not have been perfect, the fact that this game was released back then means a lot.
Jackal - While Konami had many classics (Contra, Castlevania) this game never gets recognized.
Its a pretty generic formula, but gosh darn, if it isn't fun.
Who could resist running over the enemies' men with you tank.
They would squash just like a grapefruit.
Life Force - Another incredible Konami video game that never got the credit it deserved.
It had beautiful graphics for its time.
The control was tight and effortless.
You got a chance to play simultaneously with a friend as you tried to beat the game.
It also had the legendary 30 lives code from Contra.
Crystalis - In my opinion, this RPG should be ranked up there with the great RPGs of its time like The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy.
The levels seem to flow smoothly from one to the other.
Each level had a completely different underworld.
And just like Zelda, you could have completely lost the day playing this.
Tip: Don't start playing this game if you've got things to do.
Super Dodge Ball - This is an amazing game.
I mean, even thinking by today's standards, I don't think developers could pull off a good dodge ball video game.
But in the 80s they were able to do it.
Timing was the name of this game.
