The Oldsmobile company began in 1897 but soon became part of General Motors. The Oldsmobile was the first brand GM removed from the market in the 21st century. The name "Starfire" was given to all of the Oldsmobile 98s. When the car was created it had only one body style--the convertible. This Olds 98 was the most expensive Oldsmobile in 1966, with a price tag of a little more than $3,000. The design inside and outside was pure "sporty," with saddle-stitched leather and chrome covering the dashboard.
