How to Use a BoreSnake

    • 1). Unload your gun and check the bore to make sure it doesn’t have any large debris blockages. If you see a blockage, remove it before using your BoreSnake.

    • 2). Hold your gun vertically in front of you—barrel end pointing down—with your non-dominant hand.

    • 3). Drop the brass weight at the end of your BoreSnake's black pull cord through the breach at the rear of the barrel and then begin to feed the pull cord down the length of the barrel—unless it drops down the length of the barrel on its own—until the weight comes out the end.

    • 4). Grasp the weight and pull it slightly until you can grasp the pull cord as well.

    • 5). Wrap the pull cord around your dominant hand and then continue pulling so that the BoreSnake braided nylon floss sweeps through the entire barrel and pull out completely from the end.

    • 6). Check your BoreSnake for rust particles and the bore for remaining debris. If you see either, apply a few drops of a solvent to the front end of the BoreSnake floss and clean again. If you don't see rust or remaining debris, skip this step.

    • 7). Repeat the cleaning process as needed or desired and then apply lubricant to the length of your BoreSnake and pull it through the bore one last time to oil and polish.

    • 8). Wipe your BoreSnake when finished with a dry cloth to remove the bulk of the carbon, debris, solvent or lubricant transferred to the nylon cord during cleaning.
