Nim's Island - Blu-ray/DVD Bonus Features

The Nim's Island Blu-ray disc contains all the features included on the DVD and a number of features not available on the DVD. All of the games are Blu-ray exclusive, and the "Bonus View" and "Trivia Track" modes make watching the movie more interesting. Here is a list of the bonus features included on the DVD and Blu-ray versions of the movie:

• “Nim’s Friends” Featurette: Find out about the animals from Nim's Island and how Abigail Breslin learned to love the animals as she worked with them.

• “Abigail’s Journey” Featurette: Learn about the amazing experience Abigail had making Nim's Island and what the other actors have to say about her. This feature offers a tiny glimpse of what it's like to be a child movie star.
• “Working on Water” Featurette: Was Nim's Island really filmed on an island in the ocean? Find out what the set was really like and what kind of special effects were used.
• Deleted Scenes
• Adventure Commentary with Jodie Foster and Abigail Breslin
• Commentary with Directors Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett

Blu-ray Specific Features

• Nim's Spyglass Bonus View Mode: This feature allows the viewer to see Picture-in-Picture video of the scene being filmed and other relevant video such as the movie story boards. This movie version will be especially interesting to kids, as they will be able to see exactly how a scene was filmed and better understand how movies are made.
• Nim's Island Trivia Track: In this version of the movie, interesting facts pop up throughout the movie allowing viewers to read the facts as they watch. The information is fun, but it is a bit annoying that the facts don't always correspond with the scene. You may get a fact about the ship during a scene in the tree house, for example, which is a bit distracting.

• Games
• • Write Your Own Alex Rover Adventure Game: Fill in the blanks in a story and read your own adventure interactively.
  • Coconut Soccer Game: Help characters from Nim's Island move coconuts from sea to shore.
  • Seaside Shuffle: Play a fun puzzle game that actually works pretty well with the remote -- it's like Bejeweled, but with sea shells.
  *Presented in 1080p on the Blu-ray version only.
  **Buyers should be aware that certain Blu-ray features will only work on Blu-ray players that support BD-J 1.1 (Bonus View).
