#5: Nastia Liukin, 2008 Olympic All-Around Finals
American Nastia Liukin was the underdog going into the 2008 Olympics. Teammate Shawn Johnson was the reigning world all-around champion, and had beaten Liukin at both nationals and Olympic trials.
But Liukin peaked just right at the Olympics, and had one of the best meets of her career during the Olympic all-around finals. She started off her day with a perfectly stuck Yurchenko 1.5 vault that many thought deserved a 10.0 execution score.
She would later stick her beam dismount as well, en route to the gold medal. Johnson placed second, completing an historic 1-2 sweep of the medal podium.
