How to Keep Worms Out of Wheat
- 1). Remove all food products from your pantry or kitchen shelves where you store your wheat.
- 2). Vacuum the entire cabinet or pantry to remove all food debris and crumbs. Be sure to get down into cracks or crevices where crumbs can fall and attract the worms.
- 3). Scrub the entire cabinet or pantry with hot soapy water. Look for any cocoons in the corners of the cabinet and remove them. Let the cabinet dry completely.
- 4). Reline your shelves with new shelf paper.
- 5). Inspect every package or cardboard box for signs of worm infestation before putting them back into your cabinet. Worms are especially effective at getting into items stored in cardboard boxes such as baking soda.
- 6). Throw out any infested food in storage containers or bags and then promptly remove the trash bag from the inside of your home.
- 7). Freeze any new containers of wheat for at least four to seven days. This will kill any eggs that are lurking in the wheat. Transfer the wheat to an airtight glass container with a screw-on lid.
