If you are on the dating scene, but only ever manage a few dates with a man, or go out for a few weeks, only to never hear from him again, what are you doing wrong? Well, everyone is different, so you can't apply a set of sure-fire rules to every new person, but there are a few things that are sure to put off most guys from the start!

As every guide to dating states: don't keep going on about your ex! There's nothing more off-putting than a woman who goes on & on about her last boyfriend. It shows that you're clearly not over that relationship, or ready to move on to something new & therefore, unlikely to give the new guy a fair chance. It could also indicate that you are with him on the rebound, which isn't very attractive to the guy looking for a serious relationship.

Lets face it, everyone has faults, but if you keep bad mouthing your last boyfriend as the worst person on the planet, your new guy could start to wonder why you were with him for so long, if he was so obviously a jerk. As well as this, everyone knows there are two sides to every story; if EVERYTHING was your exes fault, he may suspect that you believe you're perfect, or cannot accept criticism.

Many men will also have experienced the girl who goes on about money, possessions & material things. If you seem to show an unhealthy interest in how much he earns, or the type of car he drives, or house he owns, he may start to get the feeing that you're only interested in money & what you can get FROM him, rather than in him as a person. The same thing applies if you talk about other guys & how much money they have; it makes it hard to trust that the woman is with him for the right reasons & he may choose to back off rather than take the risk.

And the real deal breakers?! Marriage & babies! Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with marriage & babies, but generally not a great topic of conversation to keep going back to in the early days of a relationship. There are a lot of women that start to come across as so desperate to be a wife and/or mother, that the guy starts to think almost anyone would do! He certainly doesn't want to think he's just being used as a baby making machine, so going on & on about how all your friends are married & pregnant, when you've only been going out a few weeks, is going to make him wary about your intentions!

But generally, you'll notice that the common element here is that men get turned off when they are being seen for what they can give to someone, or as a means to an end, rather than being loved for who they are as a person. Obviously there are many jerks out there as well, but decent men who are looking for a relationship want to be viewed as an individual and they want to believe that the woman that they love, loves them back for the right reasons1
