Try A New Strength Training Method

It's easy to get stuck in a rut with your training. You're doing the same lifts and exercises with the same equipment week after week… it can get boring.

So, choose a new strength training method. These are just some that you can choose from to mix up your workout routine and keep your motivation up!

Kettlebells

Kettlebells are great pieces of equipment for strength and endurance. And more and more gyms are purchasing them for their members.

You can do all sorts of dynamic lifts with them, like the snatch, clean, clean and press, swing, and tons more. I think they're a whole lot of fun to work with;-)

So, try them out.

Bodyweight

Bodyweight exercises are routinely overlooked. And there's way more to them than just humble push-up!

Squats, burpees, one arm pushups, incline and decline push-ups, chin-ups, pull-ups… Choose some and try them out! You don't need expensive weights or other equipment to do them.

Just your own determination and body. And with a few boxes and maybe a bar (for chin-ups or pull-ups) you'll get much stronger - and have something different to do than you're used to doing.

Isometrics

Isometric exercises involve tensing your muscles as much as you can in a single position. It's a different way of cultivating muscular strength and body connection than training with barbells or dumbbells.

One way of doing isometrics is to choose your favorite barbell lift and isolate a position from that. For example, set the bar low, at the bottom position of a bench press repetition, and load it with far too much weight. Then lie back on the bench, grab it, and attempt to bench press it as hard as you can for 10 - 20 seconds. You won't move the bar, but you will get a great workout!

Odd Objects

Anvils, barrels, sandbags, logs, 4x4s, cars, and heavy boxes you have lying around in your garage. If it's heavy, you can use it for strength training somehow.

You shouldn't try this until you're advanced, but it can be a great deal of fun. Or, if you need firewood, try chopping logs up for several hours. Be creative;-)

If you really put your mind to it you can figure out different variations for each strength training method listed above. And for more info, ideas, and tips about strength training just click on the links below.
