One reason is that you don't want to muck up your mind with jealousy because decisions you make when you feel that way are almost NEVER good decisions.
Another reason is that if you act jealous, it can give off the impression that you think he is better than you are and you really don't want her to think that this new guy is better than you are.
So, whatever you do, temper any jealous feelings that you might have.

You DO need to be able to show your ex girlfriend that you are a great guy.
She does need to see you as being a really great guy to date if you want to have the chance of actually being able to date your ex girlfriend again.

You might not really like the fact that she is dating someone else right now, but being able to show her that you are happy for her gives the impression that you are really secure and you really are all about seeing her live a happy life.
