The Bible
Definition:
The Bible is the central religious document of Judaism and Christianity. The word 'Bible' comes either directly from the Greek ta biblia 'the books' or through the Latin biblia. The Bible may be divided into parts: the Old Testament (Hebrew Scriptures), the New Testament (Gospels, Acts, Epistles, and Apocalypse), and the Apocrypha. The Apocrypha, based on a word meaning 'secret', are books of the Bible of unknown authorship or otherwise of questioned authenticity.
The Old Testament consists of the books used by Jews and Christians, and the New Testament, those additional books used by Christians, but not Jews.
