This is something I did not understand when I first started, but realize that you're not going to make you money off the initial visit with a website visitor.
At times they will not be ready to buy but if you can capture their names and e-mail addresses and have a way to consistently communicate with them you will put yourself in good shoes.
After that there is no real secret to make money, you just continue to the basics over and over again.
