Tambo airport has been upgraded for the world cup and is in a very neat state.
There are officials to guide you where to go, just be patient.
TAXIES-Yes, here is the big difficulty.
If you are directed to the taxies waiting in their horde in front of the airport-hopefully this will change, (hooting and shouting) YOU must make sure that you get the price before the time because the combi taxies do not make use of a meter and you cannot argue later on that the price was too high.
Remember that because you are a foreighner, you are surely going to pay extra.
Pretend that you have visited South Africa many times before.
TAXI TRIP-Nightmarish, to say the least.
Pretend you do not notice the drivers "macho" driving skills because this will only make him become more daring to try and get you to your destiny as quick as possible, or to make another quick-quick trip.
Most drivers can speak English but FANAKALO words like "Hambabitjan'-go carefully would assist you in going everywhere, for instance, if you want the driver to go slowly, you can use the same two words and if you want to go to a certain place like the stadium, you use the same two words with "stadium" added.
HOTELS -Will obviously be very friendly, relatively cheap.
Just be patient.
THINGS TO DO OR TO SEE-A big variety, especially around Cape Town.
Browse through the CNA Bookshop on places to visit.
Unfortunately there is not much scenery around Johannesburg, but other things to do.
STADIUM-Be aware that you will be "overshadowed" by the local supporters-they can be VERY noisy most of times, pushy, loud-mouthed.
Should you get into a squabble with one of them, just ignore them with a wave of the hand otherwise you will never get away from them.
