It is no secret that WordPress has an amazing theme system that not only works well, but it is also easy to use.
All you need to understand is the basic structure of a theme and how it all comes together.
When designing for WordPress, the first thing you have to realize is that a theme is essentially a folder made up of a bunch of files.
Each of these files makes up a different element of a WordPress theme.
A few common files include the header, footer, and sidebar.
Whenever someone pulls on your website or blog, WordPress automatically pulls all of these files together to generate your website.
As far as editing goes, WordPress does have a built in theme editor which allows you to make changes to the various files.
The next important thing you need to know in order to learn how to design WordPress template is what each files is for.
For example, the footer file controls the bottom section of your page.
If you wanted to add a link at the very bottom of your blog or website, the footer would be the place to do it.
The header on the other hand is the complete opposite.
This controls the top section of your WordPress blog or website.
The header usually contains a navigation bar as well as a bunch of other code that is important for the overall functionality of your website.
If you would like to build your own WordPress theme, it is highly advised that you look for a bare bones style theme that has all of the basic files.
That way you can start building off of them.
