Being able to stay up later has always been a privilege reserved for when kids get to a certain age. The older a child gets the more freedoms he or she wants, so prepare for tests for preteen and teen years. rnrnParents that work, and who are also raising their children, have a very busy schedule. Even a stay at home mom is working at home and is equally busy. Between helping your kids with their homework, and talking to them about their day, you will show them that you care. This will give you the opportunity to look for red flags, such as when they tell you they never have homework. You need to consider all of the possibilities, plus you need to know your kids when they say stuff like this.rnrnYou have to be able to trust your child, but at the same time there's nothing wrong with checking. Talking with the teacher is not a bad thing. In fact, it will help things flow smoothly as the year goes by. Although there are many other approaches you could use, this approach will certainly keep you in tune with your child's education.rnrnIt's a rite of passage to get to the point where children have to be allowed to do things and make mistakes. Small mistakes based on childhood decisions are acceptable when you're there to watch them and make sure things are OK. A person is never too old to learn from decisions, and it's all feedback that can be useful. Every person has made mistakes and of course that includes the ones made in our childhood. rnrnEven old-timers who have been parenting for many years can still benefit from information on raising children. The internet has many helpful groups and it's just parents who are trying to help out each other. Of course you need to be careful about what you do, but the majority of people are just regular folks.
