Updated NCAA Basketball Tournament Odds
With Selection Sunday just around the corner, it's not too late to place a wager on the team that you believe is going to win the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Not knowing the draws, as well as which teams have made the final cut, means that you can likely find better odds now that you will on Sunday evening after the pairings are announced on may teams. Other teams, especially those considered to be in an extremely tough bracket, may go off at higher odds than they are now, but realistically, that doesn't happen too often.
(For those new to sports betting, it's important to note that the odds listed to next team are known as money odds. For a complete explanation of the money line and how it is used in sports betting, read Understanding Money Lines and you'll be caught up in no time.
These are the current lines at www.sportsbook.com as of Thursday evening, March 13. Expect the numbers to change slightly depending on what happens in the conference tournaments, particularly if one of the top teams is upset.

With so many teams listed, placing a bet on the Field wager is essentially throwing your money away. It is the equivalent of waiting until the NCAA Tournament play-in games are over before filling out your bracket and choosing one of the No. 16 seeds to knock off a No. 1. Yes, it is likely to happen one day, but until that day comes, you don't want to bet on it happening.
Wichita State is a bit of an unknown given their lack of competition during the season. But the Shockers aren't the first team to have that knock against them and some of them went on to do pretty well in the tournament.
I was a little disappointed to see Michigan State at 10-to-1 odds, as the Spartans were one team that I thought might be a bit of a sleeper, but the oddsmakers aren't giving Michigan State any break in the odds.
Louisville is another team that you can't overlook, as the Cardinals are strong offensively and defensively, as opposed to some teams that are strong on one end of the court.
Among the long shots, San Diego State might not be the worst of wagers, although the Aztecs will also get knocked for their schedule, but don't forget they went into Allen Fieldhouse and took it to Kansas, something that is pretty impressive.
