How to Clean Fake Rocks & Concrete on a Fireplace
- 1). Inspect the walls for any marks such as crayon, ink or marker. Remove the marks with a cleaning eraser sponge.
- 2). Spread drop cloths on the floor around where you are working. These will absorb any water that drips off of the fireplace.
- 3). Wrap a Turkish towel around each of your wrists, wrapping a few times to form an arm band. Secure the arm band in place with a rubber band. According to Linda Cobb, the Queen of Clean, this will prevent water from running up and down your arms as you work.
- 4). Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water, 1/2 cup of ammonia, 1/4 cup of vinegar, and 1/4 cup of washing soda. This cleaning solution will dissolve any grease, smoke and dirt that has built up on the fireplace.
- 5). Wet your natural sponge in the solution and begin scrubbing the fireplace from the bottom up. Change out your cleaning solution as it becomes dirty so that you have a fresh solution for all parts of the fireplace.
- 6). Rinse the wall with clean water and you’re done.
