As the days begin to get shorter many people start to realize that they have hit the post monsoon slump. But don't let that catch you as you can try following mood busters. These can help you sail this season with a smile.

€ Rev Up Your Sex Life:

Do not wait till 11.00pm when you feel sleepy and you can barely open your eyes. You can schedule it at 8.00 pm or at the lunchtime on the weekends. You always want your partner to initiate then your are missing out. Initiating can start your most sluggish libido as you get a buzz being in power position.

€ Be a Morning Person:
Lack of sunlight as days get shorter and darker can trigger Seasonal Affective Disorder leaving you feeling depressed and tired. A key way to ward of this condition is to get outside for 30 minutes between 7.00 am and 10.00 am when daylight is strongest. Research shows exposure to early morning sunlight helps reset our internal bogy clock and fight SAD.

€ Sort out your sleep pattern:
Waking up exhausted and craving for more sleep is common in this time of the year.Longer hours of darkness causes increased level of melatonin- the sleep hormone- making you feel sleepy in a day, but restless at night. We often make problem worse by overriding our natural sleep/wake system by drinking coffee or stay alert an using alcohol to sedate us at night. Instead set up a routine of going to bed and getting up at the same time.

€ Get seasonal food savvy:
Shorter days reduces our body's production of serotonin, the happy hormone. This makes us crave serotonin boosting carbs such as pasta, potatoes and rice, which can quickly pile on pounds. Resist the urge and tuck into these low fat seasonal treats which are reach in disease fighting antioxidants such as sweet potatoes and pumpkin. These are also great source of vitamin C, fiber and antioxidant.
Apple and pears--- apple contains heart healthy flavonoids€"are some of the most potent antioxidant around. While pears are rich in soluble fiber, which helps digestion and lowers cholesterol. Figs a high fiber treat are also a good source of calcium.

€ Set up a goal:
It can be hard sometimes to feel motivated. To get rid of this you can try achieving small things such as reading a book you fancied for ages. After achieving this, it's a time to set up bigger goals, such as learning yoga or learning a new language.

€ Give meditation a go:
A recent study shows that meditation was as good as antidepressants in preventing depression flare ups. A simple method is to light up a candle and gaze at the flickering for 10 minutes, allowing your mind to drift and empty itself of any thoughts.

€ Try laughter therapy.
Laughter is crucial to boost endorphins--- those all important good brain chemicals. Record your favorite sitcoms to watch on a regular basis, book tickets for stand up comedy show or invite friends for comedy themed DVD evenings.

€ Book a Break:
Physiologists say just looking forward to your holiday is enough to lift your mood. So start planning for your holidays or booking for weekend.

€ Exercise First Thing:
Getting up just 90 minutes earlier with morning makes it easier to fit exercise in your busy schedule. An early workout can also boost your energy levels for the rest of the day and give you endorphin for up to 7 hours after exercise
