La Jaica - Barceloneta Restaurants

106 32
La Jaica is a noisy locale on a Barceloneta backstreet serving heaped plates of delicious Andalusian-influenced seafood and jugs of Sangria. If you like fried fish, La Jaica is a must. It's one of Barceloneta's cheapest, most cheerful restaurants.

Particularly good are the chipirones (fried baby squid) and pescaditos (fried whitebait). The patatas bravas are also extremely tasty, while the pincho moruno (pork brochette marinated in paprika) is said to be Barcelona's best.

There's a cheap range of wine and beers or you could order a big jug of Sangria to go around the table.

It gets absurdly crowded so you'll probably face a wait for a table, or you can eat standing up at the bar, which is what a lot of people do. There's a charming street corner terrace for warmer weather, which often gets serenaded by passing buskers.
