Johnny Depp Signs on to Three Upcoming Disney Movies
Johnny Depp's ready for a little more love from the folks at Disney as the 3-time Oscar-nominated actor has signed on to not one, not two, but three more films to be produced by Walt Disney Studios. Disney Chairman Dick Cook announced Depp's attachment to Pirates of the Caribbean 4, The Lone Ranger, and Alice in Wonderland at a special presentation held at Kodak Theater.
Depp will be reprising his role as the devil-may-care pirate Captain Jack Sparrow although there's no script in place yet.
The Pirates 4 news didn't come as much of a surprise as Depp never said he was hanging up his pirate attire after Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
While Dick Cook did not reveal who would be playing the Lone Ranger, it was confirmed at the event that Depp will be the good guy's sidekick, Tonto, in a feature film aiming for release in 2010.
As for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, Cook announced Depp will be playing The Mad Hatter. The film will be shot in 3-D and will combine live-action footage with performance capture. Disney is aiming for a March 10, 2010 release date.
