Phoenectin for Mange in Dogs
- Phoenectin is a brand name drug manufactured by Teva Animal Health. The active ingredient in Phoenectin is a chemical called ivermectin.
- Phoenectin is indicated and approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in horses, cattle and swine only. The active ingredient in this drug, ivermectin, is available in other formulations to treat dogs.
- Ivermectin is used off-label to treat sarcoptic and demodectic mange in dogs. This chemical eliminates the parasites that cause these diseases.
