Why a Carbon Water Filter?
- Most carbon filters are solid pieces of molded carbon designed to fit different sizes and types of mechanisms. They normally improve the flavor of tap water, and some have features that reduce levels of common impurities such as protozoan cysts and lead.
- This type of filter attaches to the faucet head or in an under-sink fitting that leads to a dedicated drinking water faucet. It contains carbon mixed with resins to attract and hold contaminants before they enter the water that comes out of the faucet.
- Water filtration pitchers have filters in the pitcher lids that use the same type of carbon compound as faucet filters. When the water is poured from the pitcher, the filter traps the contaminants.
- The life of the filter depends on the amount of water usage. Manufacturer instructions have guidelines on how often the carbon filters need to be replaced. It's important to follow the replacement schedule, because waiting until an off taste is evident indicates that the filter has lost its power to fully eradicate contaminants and has exceeded its efficiency.
