Throwing a party that appeals to both kids and adults can be a tricky endeavor. Keeping the kids occupied while also entertaining adults is not always easy at family functions like bar or bat mitzvahs and birthday parties.

But what families may not know is just how limitless the possibilities are nowadays. With technology like plasma TV screens and live video feeds, intricate staging and lighting or the creative use of both live music and recorded music, today’s family get-togethers can have all the style and elegance of a gala event while still allowing the kids to have their fun.

At Eddie Bruce Entertainment, bar and bat mitzvah parties are a large part of the business. Over the years, co-founder Eddie Bruce developed an ear and an eye for the right blend of entertainment.

“All of our bands do bar and bat mitzvahs with a DJ,” said Bruce. “The DJ entertains children during the cocktail hour with games and prizes. He or she can also play the most recent tunes by the original artist, as kids might want to hear it. The band comes in for the dinner and dancing, and might play some of the more traditional party favorites. It’s a combination that appeals to both young and old.”

When families are looking to hire bands [http://www.ebetalent.com/bands06/bands.php] or DJs [http://www.ebetalent.com/djs/djs.php], Bruce suggests they look for a leader who is hip and young, but experienced enough to know that the music and entertainment should appeal to the range of ages in the room.

Along with pairing DJs and bands for family parties, EBE is at the forefront of another new trend " using plasma TV screens to capture or enhance poignant moments. These screens can be set up in a room and used to display photo montages during a sentimental moment. For example, a collection of childhood photos can be shown during the candle-lighting ceremony of a bar or bat mitzvah.

The screens can also be used just for fun. If EBE’s photographer is present, he or she can take pictures of guests and display the photos on the screens throughout the party
" kind of like an immediate “photo album” of the event. When used with a live feed from EBE’s roaming videographers, the screens can show party-goers dancing and having fun. The plasma screens can also be used to broadcast song lyrics or to show music videos.

“The possibilities are really endless,” said Bruce. “More and more families are requesting this type of entertainment for their parties.”

If families are concerned that boys may stay on one side of the room while girls congregate on the other during a birthday party or bar and bat mitzvah, EBE also offers motivational dancers to keep people mingling and moving. The dancers, some of whom work for Philadelphia area sports teams, help give away prizes and get party-goers out of their seats to dance.

When it comes to intergenerational entertaining, families today have lots of tricks at their disposal. To learn more about EBE’s DJ and Special Entertainment Division, visit the company online at EBE - Philadelphia Wedding Bands.
