Anxiety disorders generally begin during childhood. It refers a persistent condition characterized by an excessive and continual sense of anxiety having some physical symptoms such as sweating, sense of stress. People suffer from a number of anxiety disorders such as; social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, specific phobia, and generalized anxiety disorder. Often it could be described as a group of mental disorder characterize by manner of fear and anxiety. Medication, therapy and changes in lifestyle include most common treatment procedures.

Causes

Anxiety disorder is not the result of un fortune, personal weakness, or mistakes of character of early days.The exact cause of it is still unknown. Since scientists are carrying on their research on mental illness, it is clear that many of these disorders are caused by a combination of factors. Studies have shown that people have been affected by changes in certain brain structures that control memories linked with strong emotions. In additionally we know that anxiety disorders run in families, which means that they can at least partly be inherited from parents. Moreover, certain environmental issue such as a trauma or significant event -- may be the cause of activation of an anxiety disorder in people who have an inherited vulnerability to developing the disorder. We found many other causes, viz; maltreatment of drugs or alcohol, life stresses, genetic adaptation, persistence of anxiety, evolutionary mismatch etc.
Symptoms of Anxiety Disorder

Symptoms vary on the type of disorder, but generally it includes:

€ Unsound sleeping
€ Cold hands and/feet or sweaty
€ Breath shortness
€ Heart shiver
€ Inability to remain still and calm
€ Droughty mouth
€ Numbness in hands/feet
€ Nausea
€ Muscle tension
€ Dizziness

As on 2010 worldwide approximately 273 million (4.5% of the population) has an anxiety disorder. Research shows that it is more frequent in females (5.2%) than males (2.8%). In Asia, Europe and Africa rates of lifetime disorders are among 9 and 16%, and yearly rates are among 4 and 7%. In the United States, the rate lifetime and yearly are respectively 29%, and between 11 and 18%.

Diagnosis

These are often severe and are frequently accompanied by physiological symptoms such as sweating, headache, muscle spasms, palpitations, tachycardia, and hypertension, which in some cases lead to tiredness. Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale or the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale can be used to detect symptoms, and suggest the need for a formal diagnostic assessment of the disorder. Research result has indicated that the disorder is more likely among those with family history of anxiety disorders, especially certain types. Sexual dysfunction often accompanies anxiety disorders. The most common symptom in individuals are escaping from intercourse, erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation for men and pain during intercourse for women.

Therapy as a Treatment

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is useful for anxiety disorders. It has two main components: behavioral and cognitive. The first one seeks to change people's reactions to anxiety-provoking situations and for social anxiety, the second one can help people to question how they are so sure that others are continually inspecting and harshly judging her or him.Cognitive therapy gradually shows people the proof of real world that their dysfunctional thought processes are unrealistic. The aim is to learn from acting differently and observing reactions. This therapy needs support and guidance and readiness of therapist and patient. For social phobia it includes anxiety management training. However, self-help books can play vital role to this treatment.

Medications

If the person is not interested in trying any therapy or if other measures have not been found to be effective on the person, medication may be applied but its use should be under margin i.e "as needed" use. They are generally considered as second-line for some disadvantages such as cognitive impairment and risks of dependence. Conversely, dietary limitations and medical interactions may limit their use. Medications should be used with care among adults.

Substitute Medicine

Reducing caffeine and regular keeping fit are often useful in treating nervousness. Evidently that yoga may be effective or meditation may make one conclusions. Numerous remedies have been used for anxiety disorder.

Children

A number of methods and treatments are available which are effective in treating childhood disorders. Like adults, children may undergo psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, or counseling. Family therapy is one of the treatment in which the child meets a therapist together with the primary guardian. Play and Art therapy are also used. Taking part in art activities child can express themselves otherwise they may not be able to communicate to others. In play therapy, the child is allowed to play, the therapist may act as mediator with a comment, question or suggestion.

Finally, good sign that attention is escalating on prevention of anxiety disorders. There is tentative evidence supporting the use of cognitive behavior rehabilitation still there is no effective measures to prevent GAD in adults.
