What is Apple TV? Much has been said and written about Apple TV.
The main question that everyone asked was "what can I do with it?".
The answer to this question is below.
Simply said: it is an extension of iTunes to your widescreen TV.
It therefore ensures that everything in iTunes can be viewed and listened also available on the TV.
The product is on Apple's site between iTunes and iPods, as it is the simply an "iPod for your TV".
What Apple TV does? It is no VCR, no TV tuner and no DVD player.
If you meet any of these functions i suggest you stop reading right now.
It also makes little sense to complain about the lack of these features, it is what it is, no recorder, TV tuner or DVD player.
Who wants to watch TV, record videos or play DVD's will not have any benefits of the Apple TV, but for those who want to view all media from iTunes (and iPhoto) from the house on his or her TV, will be it perfect.
Specifications Apple TV has a 40 GB hard drive for storage of media and can record HD video with a quality of 1080i, 720p, 576p or 480p.
The device has an HDMI connection and component audio / video.
Note: Connecting to a TV with SCART, Composite, S-Video or other inputs is not possible.
An optical audio output is also available for the connection to receivers or other home systems.
The component audio outputs can also be be used, the sound always comes out all ports simultaneously.
There is a 10/100 Base Ethernet port is present and an AirPort Extreme (802.
11n) for connecting to wireless networks.
Finally, a USB 2.
0 port is available but only for repairs and maintenance, to which no devices are connected.
It runs on Mac OS X and all PCs running Windows XP SP2.
However, you need iTunes 7.
1 (or higher) on board.
Whats in the box? It comes in a deluxe box with a 220V cable (luckily no separate adapter!) and a manual in every language imaginable.
Without the Apple Remote remote control (same as Macs with Front Row)this would be worthless..
therefore they included it for optimal laziness.
To my surprise there is no other cable in the box.
You must first buy a separate HDMI or component cable to connect it to the TV.
