Children, Guns, Computers, and Me

Would you give your 12 year old child a gun to play with? Obviously the answer is No.
He or she is inexperienced and has no idea how to use it, or what it's for.
Accordingly should your 12 year old child give you a computer and access to the internet - The answer No - because you are inexperienced and have no idea how to use it or what its for! What am I saying - the majority of Penny Stocks investors now rely on computers and the internet to gather information prior to investing in stocks and in particular Penny-Stocks.
The overage computer illiterate sees junk emails, does searches, reads blogs is a party to social networking sites but seldom seems to understand that a lot of internet marketing campaigns are merely carefully crafted marketing schemes.
Why all of a sudden does company "A" appear at the top of every search engine when it has just laid claim to a patch of desert in Australia or moose pasture in the North West Territories.
Even though the share price of stock "A" is hovering around a cent, with hundreds of millions of shares out, has little or no management mining experience and no money in the Bank - it is being touted as a real buy, a score, a mover, a sure thing.
Our 10 year olds may suggest that we search the internet and look at the company's filings, their recent signings of marketing contracts, examine their website, research their principals PRIOR TO going ahead and investing.
The internet is a weapon and can be used as a tool for success but if used incorrectly can fire a bullet right through the head of a naïve investor.
Penny Stocks are touted every day on the internet - there's a reason - they need volume and sales.
My advice use the internet to your advantage, search beyond the superficial dirt that has inundated your computer screen.
- Look at the Company web-site - Look at Regulatory filings - Look at the history and experience of management - And definitely speak to a an advisor - lawyer, accountant and broker.
The next time you look at your computer - look beyond the script - do some diligence then buy or don't buy.
Then when your children have confidence in you- perhaps they will let you have your own computer some day.
