    • 1). Select the items you wish to purchase with your credit card. Take the items to the cashier and hand the cashier your credit card. After the cashier slides your card's magnetic strip through the point-of-sale terminal, sign the two-part receipt. Keep a copy of the receipt and leave the store. Keep receipts for any other purchases you make during the month. If you make purchases over the phone, read the vendor your card number and write down the confirmation number they read to you. If you make purchases over the phone, you must also provide the vendor with the three digit number listed on the right side of the signature panel on the back of your card. When making Internet purchases, enter your card number and print out a receipt for your records.

    • 2). Examine your credit card statement. Transactions made during the current month appear on the following month's statement. Compare the amounts of transactions listed on the statement with your purchase receipts. If any items appear that you don't recognize, call your card issuer to report fraud. If your transactions are correct, make your payment.

    • 3). Go online. Sign into your card issuer's website. Follow the onscreen prompts to schedule your payment. Enter your bank account number and the amount that you intend to pay. You must pay at least the minimum listed on your monthly statement. Print out your payment confirmation. Alternatively, mail a check together with the payment slip enclosed with your statement to the card issuer.
