    Les Perruches

    • Jean Dupas displayed his painting "Les Perruches" in Paris, France, for the first time in 1925. The mural showed tall, elegant female figures with a brightly colored tree full of parrots in the background. Dupas, born in Bordeaux, France, in 1882, is one of the most famous Art Deco painters. He gained notoriety by painting a mural at Exposition Internationale de Arts in 1925, which included "Les Perruches."

    Tamara in the Green Bugatti

    • Tamara de Lempicka's portrait of herself driving a green Bugatti is an iconic Art Deco painting showing a strong woman in the post-war era. De Lempicka was born in Poland in 1898. She painted "Tamara in the Green Bugatti" for the cover of a German magazine in 1929. The painting shows a beautiful blond woman with a beige driving hat and scarf holding the steering wheel of a green sports car. The bold colors and clean lines are excellent examples of Art Deco style.

    The Alphabet Suite

    • "The Alphabet Suite" by Erte is a series of paintings that depicts each letter of the alphabet by artistically arranging human forms in various poses. Erte began the series of painting in 1927 in Paris, but it took him 40 years to complete the entire series. He finished the letters in 1967 for an exhibition in London. The paintings feature beautiful figures, vibrant colors and a creative premise.

    In a Position to Know

    • C. Cole Phillips was an American artist well-known for his paintings that illustrated popular magazines and advertisements in the 1920s. "In a Position to Know" is a painting that graced the cover of "Life" magazine in 1921 and made Phillips' "fade-away lady" technique famous. The painting uses common Art Deco techniques such as bold, large blocks of color and clean lines. The painting shows a pretty, young maid dressed in a black and white uniform peeking through a key hole on a door.
