    • There is an overwhelming amount of money in the form of grants available to community organizations. In many cases these grants are awarded to organizations that provide a well thought out plan along with a proven track record in administering funds for projects. It is suggested that your organization give considerable thought to hiring a professional grant writer in order to give your organization the best possible chance of obtaining the funds you need for your particular program.

    Communities Empowering Youth Program

    • This federal government grant is funded under the Compassion Capital Fund (CCF). Through this grant the federal government hopes to strengthen and expand the role community organizations have in providing social services to communities of low-income households. Organizations that want to empower youth and encourage them to stay away from gangs and gang violence will be given high priority when these grants are awarded.

    HUD's Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP)

    • These federal grants are awarded to neighborhoods in towns and cities that have been hardest hit by job loss and contain a high number of foreclosed homes. Community organizations must present an innovative way to revitalize these neighborhoods through housing and employment opportunities in order to receive a grant.

Office on Violence Against Women (OVC)

    • This office under the Justice Department of the Federal Government awards grants to community organizations that help female victims of violence. Community organizations that focus programs on the health and well being of female victims of rape, date rape, domestic violence, and stalking will be given highest priority.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

    • This grant was set up through the federal government to ensure decent and affordable housing for low-income families, create jobs and contribute to the overall health of these families. Community organizers need to develop a plan that will specifically address these issues in their own city or town.
