Golf is a Six Inch Game
If you are anything like me you love your golf game.
It's great to be a part of the game and once you have done that it's great to try and master it.
We have some very advanced equipment and the players know how to use it.
They also know how the six inch game works.
I guess you could say it's all a matter of attitude, confidence and state of mind.
You can train or be trained how to stand, hold the club, swing the club, strike the ball, and follow through and so on but no one can teach attitude and concentration.
You can see it in all the greats.
You're all waiting for me to bring him up so I will, just watch Tiger and you will see how the six inch game is mastered.
I'm not sure how Tiger does it but I can explain how it can be done.
Have you ever had a perfect putt, You felt it right? Everyone might think you were lucky on that 10 footer but you know you felt it all the way.
You just knew from the time you swung the club just right that the speed was perfect and you had a feeling in your body and mind just before you took the shot that it was in all the way.
Admit it you have felt this.
Well that is six inch game.
It's in your state of mind.
You might be saying so what? Well here is so what! You know how to make the shot.
You know what club to use and you know what swing will get the job done.
You know this because you have felt it and done it before.
Think of it in terms of a computer.
You put all the needed information in a computer to attain a certain result.
Once that information is there you can access the program and run it to get the same result every time.
The mind is the world's greatest computer.
It controls every action; thought and feeling you have ever had or ever will have.
You already have the advantage of knowing how you felt when you had the great day or shot.
That is your program.
Know all you have to do is access that feeling.
Put yourself in the same frame of mine and same good attitude you felt at the time of your previous success.
Once you mind realizes it has done this before it will give the command to put the body in the same position and follow all the actions that follow the program.
This can be done over and over again and become a habit.
I'm going to reach a little here and say that this can be copied from another.
If you know someone that consistently does better in some way than you do talk to them about it.
Duplicate the physical way they approach the situation.
Find out the club they use.
Ask them how they feel or what they think about as they move through the shot.
Watch the breathing pattern the idea is to see how they are programming themselves to a successful outcome.
This does work and it works very well.
Nothing is perfect but this little tide-bit of knowledge for your knapsack of knowledge will put you in a much better position to control your golf game.
Especially control that six inch game between your ears.
