    • 1). Unplug the range from the wall outlet prior to disassembling. If you cannot access the power cord, turn off the range breaker.

    • 2). Lift the burner grates and burner caps off the top of the range.

    • 3). Remove the screws securing the burner bases to the stovetop, if applicable to your model.

    • 4). Insert a putty knife between the main top and the cabinet of the range to release the spring clips securing the main top to the range. The spring clips are located on the left and right sides of the front of the range, or near the front of the sides of the range.

    • 5). Lift the main top up, then secure it using a sturdy object, or ask a partner to hold the top up while you perform the repair.

    • 6). Remove the gas orifice if the igniter is installed through the underside of it. To remove the orifice, remove the nut securing it to the burner tube using an open-ended or adjustable wrench.

    • 7). Remove the screws securing the igniter into position. Remove the igniter.

    • 8). Pull the wire connector off the igniter, then secure it to the terminal on the new igniter.

    • 9). Secure the new igniter into position using the screws that were removed.

      Reassemble the stovetop by reversing the steps taken to disassemble it.

      Plug the range's power cord back into the wall outlet, or turn on the range breaker in your service panel.
